Explore Grindavík

Grindavík is one of the oldest fishing town in Iceland, located on the Reykjanes peninsula in southwest of Iceland. The population of the town is about 3300 people and since settlement the main occupation has evolved around the fishing industry. The town has been growing fast as a tourist destination in the last few years but the famous BLUE LAGOON is located just outside the town.

 

The town is situated in the middle of a lava field and the surrounding nature offers variety of opportunities for all kinds of activity including Quad bikes, hiking, lava caving, horseback riding and birdwatching. Close to the town some of the natural wonders of Reykjanes can be found, such as Krýsuvík, Gunnuhver, Eldvörp and Brimketill. 

Grindavík offers good service including grocery store, gas station, swimming pool, golf course, post office, clinic and bank as well as good accommodation, like hotels, guesthouses and camping area.
